Boneyards are a beloved tradition in teaching studios: repositories of objects created during demonstrations that, overtime, become archives of a studio’s history.
Collected over 26 years, these pieces made by instructors and visiting artists offer a glimpse into the people and ideas that have shaped Claymakers.

About the Claymakers Gallery:
Claymakers Gallery showcases contemporary ceramic art and studio pottery while celebrating the rich tradition of clay in North Carolina. Through rotating exhibitions featuring regional and national artists alongside members of the Claymakers community, the gallery highlights the incredible diversity of contemporary ceramics—from functional pottery to sculptural and conceptual work.
As part of Claymakers Arts Community, the gallery extends our mission to connect people through clay by creating opportunities for artists to exhibit their work, experiment across disciplines, and engage with the public. Throughout the year, the gallery presents exhibitions, receptions, and special events that invite visitors to explore the many possibilities of ceramics.
