Accessibility

Our Commitment

At Claymakers, we are passionate about building community through clay. We are committed to making our programs, events, and spaces as inclusive, welcoming, and accessible as possible for all participants, donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners, regardless of ability.

We are committed to listening, learning, and working with individuals to identify reasonable accommodations whenever possible.

Our Facility

Our facility includes several accessibility features:

  • Facility Access: The main entrance to our studio, gallery, and supply store is wheelchair accessible and located on the ground floor. Two accessible parking spaces are available.

  • Restrooms: Two accessible single-occupant, gender-neutral restrooms are available on-site.

  • Service Animals: Service animals are welcome in all areas of our facility. We are unable to accommodate emotional support animals in our studio.

While our facility includes these features, we recognize that accessibility involves more than physical access to a building. The layout of our studio, the equipment we use, and the physical nature of working with clay may present additional barriers depending on an individual's needs.

Programs and Accommodations

We can make certain program and studio accommodations on a case-by-case basis. Depending on the program and the nature of the request, these may include adjustments to equipment or workspaces, seating or positioning, or providing information in an alternate format.

We are happy to work with participants to identify reasonable adjustments that may help reduce a particular access barrier. Some accommodations may not be possible depending on the program, equipment, facility, or timing of the request. When we are unable to provide a requested accommodation, we will do our best to discuss possible alternatives.

If you have an accessibility question or would like to request an accommodation, please contact us as early as possible—ideally at least five business days before the program or event. Earlier notice gives us the best opportunity to understand your needs and determine what accommodations may be possible.

When contacting us, it’s helpful to include:

  • The access barrier or challenge you anticipate;

  • The accommodation or assistance you are requesting; and

  • Your preferred contact information so we can follow up.

You are welcome to reach out even if you are not sure what accommodation would be helpful. You know your own needs best, and we are happy to listen, ask questions, and explore options with you.

Digital and Communication Access

We are committed to continually improving the accessibility of our website, online content, and communications so that our community can more easily access information about our programs and services.

If you encounter a barrier when accessing information online or need information in an alternate format, please let us know. We will do our best to provide the information in a format that works for you.

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing learning process for our team. We know that we may not always get everything right on the first try, and we are committed to listening, learning, and addressing barriers as we become aware of them.

We regularly review our facility, programs, event planning, communications, and digital tools to identify opportunities to improve accessibility. We welcome feedback from our community and see that feedback as an important part of this work.

Feedback and Contact

If you encounter an accessibility barrier while interacting with Claymakers—whether physical, informational, or digital—or have suggestions for how we can make our programs and spaces more accessible, please let us know. We welcome the opportunity to hear from you and learn how we can do better.
