Summer Technical Series: Supply Chain Issues + Material Substitutions
Friday, August 29 | 6 - 7:30 pm
Presenter: Howard Sawhill, Cone Blue Pottery
Location: Sculpture + Handbuilding Studio
Availability of glaze materials is always shifting, and in recent years, it can feel like we’re on a constant carousel of changes. But finding a substitute for a familiar glaze ingredient isn’t always straightforward. In this session, we’ll discuss how to navigate material changes in a thoughtful, systematic way.
This summer, join us for a series focused on the technical side of ceramics! Each 90-minute session is a chance to bring your questions and challenges around making, firing, and glazing—and to learn from the experiences of fellow potters. Whether you're troubleshooting a specific issue or just eager to deepen your knowledge, you'll find support, insight, and community.
Discussions will be moderated by Howard Sawhill, founder of Cone Blue Pottery. With over 30 years of experience in industrial ceramics, Howard brings a deep well of knowledge and a collaborative approach to helping potters work through technical challenges.
