Summer Technical Series: Causes + Solutions of Common Firing Defects

$20.00

Friday, August 1 | 6 - 7:30 pm

Presenter: Howard Sawhill, Cone Blue Pottery

Location: Sculpture + Handbuilding Studio

Are you crazed by crazing? Dunting doing you in? Join us for a discussion of firing defects potters commonly face—and how to troubleshoot them. Guided by attendees’ questions and experiences, we’ll explore issues like pinholing, crawling, blistering, and more.

This summer, join us for a series focused on the technical side of ceramics! Each 90-minute session is a chance to bring your questions and challenges around making, firing, and glazing—and to learn from the experiences of fellow potters. Whether you're troubleshooting a specific issue or just eager to deepen your knowledge, you'll find support, insight, and community.

Discussions will be moderated by Howard Sawhill, founder of Cone Blue Pottery. With over 30 years of experience in industrial ceramics, Howard brings a deep well of knowledge and a collaborative approach to helping potters work through technical challenges.
