Wednesday Evenings, 6:30- 9:30 pm
Class Dates: February 25; March 4, 11, 18, 25; April 1, 8
Instructor: Nate Hood
Location: Wheel Studio 1
Skill Level: Advanced
This class is for students who are ready to move beyond making pots and begin working with greater intention and clarity. The focus will be on simplicity and restraint, using careful reduction to refine and strengthen form.
We will examine how functional elements—weight, scale, balance, rim and lip, spout and handle, thickness, and transitions—alongside aesthetic qualities such as line and volume, shape the character of a piece: soft or rigid, taut or loose, dynamic or still.
Through focused making and group critique, students will clarify the kinds of pots they want to pursue and develop forms that feel purposeful and true to their individual styles.
