Books often use the caption “wheel-thrown and altered” to describe how a pot was made—but what does the phrase mean? In this class, we’ll explore some basic altering techniques including faceting, fluting, darting, and cutting and reassembling to change the shape of wheel-thrown forms and take them out of the round. Using these techniques, we will transform bowl and cylinder forms into varied and lively pots with personality.
