One Day Clay: Throwing Taller Pots in 2026!
Workshop Date: Friday, January 23rd, 6:30-9:30pm
Instructor: Liz Paley
Location: Wheel 1
Skill Level: Intermediate + Beyond
Aiming for new heights with your wheel-thrown pots? With an emphasis on strategy rather than strength, this 3-hour workshop will focus on achieving taller wheel-thrown forms by stacking sectionally thrown components. We'll use Claymakers' pugged reclaim clay to give us ample clay for practicing. Participants should be able to comfortably throw a 2.5 to 3 pound (or more) straight-walled cylinder. Please bring your usual clay tools, with a focus on assorted rounded ribs, and a heat gun if you have one (no need to purchase one if you don't!).
Students may keep one vessel from this workshop to fire. The workshop fee covers one participant and includes clay and bisque firing of one piece (glaze firing available for a small additional fee). The firing process takes 3 weeks; Claymakers staff will contact you by email you when your piece is available for pickup.
