Session 1: Introduction to Slip Decorating, Tuesday Mornings

Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
Ceramic slips open up endless possibilities for decorating your work! In this class, Amy will guide students through a variety of slip decoration techniques using different types of slip such as colored slip, terra sigilatta and engobe. While the class will focus on wheel-throwing, handbuilders are also welcome.
Amy will teach students how to layer slips and explore resist techniques like paper, latex, and wax. We’ll also dive into slip trailing, mishima, and sgraffito to add depth and texture to your pieces. Glazing your slip surfaces will also be a focus of this session. Bring your imaginations and your sketchbooks. This class will serve as a springboard for jumping into the exciting world of surface decoration!
