Ready to be bowled over? In this class, students will explore the wide range of possibilities within this familiar shape. With Gaines’ guidance, students will work to develop the skills needed to consistently achieve the flowing curve of a well-formed bowl. We’ll dive into how details like rims, trimmed feet, volume, and weight affect both form and function—and how thoughtful design can enhance a bowl’s purpose. Demonstrations and discussion will also cover glazing and decorating strategies for each part of the bowl.
