Session 1: Functional Hand-building, Thurs pm
Functional Handbuilding(Thursday pm)
This will be a multi-level class. Beginning students will be introduced to the three foundational hand-building skills of coil, pinch and slab. As students become more proficient, these techniques will be expanded and combined. Surface texture, design and glazing methods will be covered.
Students with hand-building experience will build on the fundamental skills of coil, pinch and slab to make functional forms that are more complex and challenging. Students will be encouraged to set a goal or goal(s) to work toward. Individual instruction and guidance will help advanced students clarify their ideas and execute them successfully.
