Zoom Workshop: Tealight Holders with Liz Paley
Zoom Workshop: Tealight Holders
Saturday, December 5 | 10 am-12 pm
Instructor: Liz Paley
In anticipation of the season of lights, this short Zoom workshop will focus on tealight holders to frame flame. Demos will begin at the wheel, but experienced hand-builders are also welcome. Wheel students should be able to center clay and throw a cylinder.
Clay, firing, and studio time not included in this class. Due to our December 2020 move, Claymakers' kilns are unavailable for firing pieces created in this class. We anticipate reopening our studio in January 2021 for glazing and firing.
Takeaway skills: throwing off the hump, throwing closed forms, and cutting/carving visually interesting designs.
Recommended tools: hole-cutting tools in assorted sizes (drill bits will work), craft knife for detail work (e.g. Fiskars or X-acto), firm fine-tipped paint brush for smoothing cut edges, and basic throwing tools (sponge, needle tool, ribs, wire cutoff tool). Note: Claymakers' supply store will be closing on Saturday, November 28th for our December 2020 move.
