Session 3: Wheel for Absolute Beginners!, Wednesday Evenings
No clay experience? No problem! This class is appropriate for beginning students and will focus on the development of fundamental wheel throwing skills. New students will work through the complete cycle of making wheel thrown pottery, from shaping wet clay to glazing. Demonstrations will focus on the skills of wedging, centering clay on the wheel, use of tools to make basic shapes such as cups and bowls, and trimming, glazing and finishing techniques. Students will receive individual attention as skill progression is unique to each person.
Wear old clothes, and bring an old towel and a beginner's set of pottery tools to the first class. (Students who have completed a beginning class should join an intermediate or continuing wheel class).
Due to Claymakers' move, all work must be finished + ready for glaze firing by the end of the last class on November 18, and all clay, tools, and supplies must be taken home that day. We will not be able to offer further opportunities for finishing work. The last day for pickup of finished work will be Saturday, November 28. All work left after this time will be discarded.
Note: All students must follow Claymakers' COVID protocol and sign a COVID waiver.
