Session 1: Raku II, Monday Evenings
Session 1: Raku II, Monday Evenings
This class is a continuation of our last session of raku, but students who weren’t enrolled in the previous session are welcome!
Raku is a low temperature, easily accessible firing method that can be used to create unpredictable and exciting ceramic surfaces. Work is removed from the kiln while it is still glowing hot and put into reduction chambers to result in varied surfaces in the glazes due to the atmosphere. In this class, students will also prepare work for unglazed raku (naked raku or horsehair) by using terra sig and slip. Previous wheel or hand-building experience is needed, but students new to raku firing are welcome.
Monday Evenings, 6:30-9:30 pm
Class Dates: January 6, 13, 20, 27; February 3, 10, 17
Instructor: Evelyn Ward
